Import equipments and consumption
Import your equipment data using XLSX files. The import process has two phases:
- Equipment Import - Equipment master data (type, fuel, location, etc.) Project → Data → Import/Export → Import equipment
XLSX template:
equipment_import_template_v14.05 KB 2. Consumption Import - Usage data (fuel consumed, electricity used) Project → Data → Import/Export → Import equipment consumption
XLSX template:
equipment_consumption_import_template_v18.86 KB
Phase 1: Equipment Master Data Import
Section titled “Phase 1: Equipment Master Data Import”Import your equipment with specifications and control parameters.

External ID for Updates
Section titled “External ID for Updates”Use External ID to enable re-importing:
- With External ID: System finds and updates existing equipment
- Without External ID: Always creates new equipment
Phase 2: Consumption Data Import
Section titled “Phase 2: Consumption Data Import”After importing equipment, import their usage data to calculate emissions.

Emission Calculations
Section titled “Emission Calculations”Emissions are calculated automatically using the Climatiq API when consumption data is saved.
GHG Scope Determination
Section titled “GHG Scope Determination”Equipment emissions are categorized based on control and fuel type:
| Condition | Scope | Category |
|---|---|---|
| Operational control + fuel (diesel, petrol, natural_gas, propane) | Scope 1 | 1.1 (Stationary combustion) |
| Operational control + electricity | Scope 2 | 2.1 (Purchased electricity) |
| No operational control OR leased assets | Scope 3 | 3.8 (Upstream leased assets) |
Import Tips
Section titled “Import Tips”- Set country correctly: Required for emission factor selection
- Use External IDs: Enables linking consumption data and future updates
- Specify fuel type: Required for accurate emission calculations
- Set operational control: Determines whether emissions are Scope 1, 2, or 3
- Include in emissions: Only equipment with this flag will be included in reports
- Separate fuel and electric: Report fuel and electricity consumption separately for accurate categorization
